The Adobe Creative Cloud stands out as a pioneer in the professional world of video and audio production field. This means it does come with a bit of a learning curve so if you are just starting out keep this in mind. Record, edit, mix, and distribute podcasts within the suite of programs. Just like in AudioDirector and PowerDirector you can create a project in one app (like Adobe Audition) then open and edit it in another app (like Adobe Premiere) without recreating the file.

Adobe Audition has all of the tools a podcaster needs. The software covers audio post-production in addition to audio-restoration. Adobe Premiere Pro comes with a modern interface that appeals to experts and those desiring complete control over ease of use. Adobe routinely updates the software, too, to ensure that you have state-of-the-art tools at all times.

Budget-conscious users might chafe at Adobe's price for a subscription-only model. There's no way to purchase Adobe Audition or Adobe Premiere Pro without paying a high monthly fee. However, if you're serious about your video and audio editing software on a totally professional level, their cost might merit your consideration.

Logic Pro stands as an upgrade over Apple's GarageBand. The higher-end audio recording and mixing software has superior functionality and granular editing capacity. It also serves as an ideal place for a foray into music recording.

Any Mac users familiar with iMovie will note its similarities with Final Cut Pro. The latter is a high-end alternative for professional video editors and freelancers. Upload your video files to Final Cut Pro, and you can take advantage of everything from 360-degree footage editing to a magnetic trackless timeline.

Apple excels at creating intuitive technology, and Final Cut Pro is no exception, though the lofty price tag and complicated interface might dissuade some entry-level users. Note that Apple offers a free 90-day trial for Final Cut Pro.

How to Make a Video Podcast

Podcast DJ

Step 1: Accrue equipment required for a video podcast.

  1. Audio equipment - Microphone, audio interface, and headphones
  2. Video equipment - Camera, tripod, and lights
  3. Editing Software

Step 2: Find your niche.

Decide what topic you want to focus your podcast on and make sure there is an audience for it.

Step 3: Choose a name, music, and logo.

Pick a name and make a logo once you have chosen what your podcast will focus on. Most podcasts have an opening song to help set the tone or mood of the show. Just be sure you have permission to use the music.

One of the best sources for getting music for podcasts is royalty-free music libraries like the one available in Director Suite 365. It has thousands of songs to choose from, so you should have no problem finding a track that fits your show.

Step 4: Decide on format, podcast hosts, and guests.

Every podcast is different, from conversations to interviews to true-crime and made-up stories. As a result, there are many different formats available to choose from. You can even do a mix of formats.

Depending on your format, you will need to decide if you will have a single host, a duo, or even a panel. Obviously, if you plan to have interviews, you will need guests, so go out and find your first.

Brainstorming Podcast Content

Step 5: Plan an episode.

Before you start recording, make sure you have a plan. This can save you time and energy. You don't have to have every detail figured out but have a good sense of what the finished episode will be like.

Step 6: Record your episode.

Time for the fun stuff. Go and make your episode.

Step 7: Edit your video and audio.

  1. Import and sync audio and video in PowerDirector.
  2. Watch your video and delete the sections you don't need.
  3. Remove any excess background noise with the noise reduction tool in AudioDirector.

Step 8: Mix your audio.

  1. Arrange your tracks in a hierarchical order. It could be something like:
    1. Your host audio
    2. Guest or co-host audio
    3. Sound Effects
    4. Music
    5. Master track
  2. Organize your audio clips, ensuring that each voice gets its own track.
  3. Adjust the volume if needed to keep consistent noise levels.
  4. Add fades and music when appropriate.
  5. Listen to your mix and make adjustments as necessary.
PowerDirector Color Correct Interface

Step 9: Color correct your video.

When color correcting a video podcast, the most important thing is to make sure each shot looks the same as the last. To do this, you can use the color match feature in PowerDirector.

  1. With a video clip selected, open Fix/Enhance from the toolbar just above the editing timeline to the right of the Tools menu. Clicking Fix/Enhance will open two menus to the left of your screen: Fix and Enhance. Under the Enhance menu, select Color Match.
  2. Click on the reference clip on your editing timeline. The reference clip is the media clip with the color properties you want to duplicate to the other clips in your project. After selecting your reference clip, click on the Match Color button to the left of your screen below the steps.
  3. Using the Level, Hue, Saturation, and Brightness sliders, you can adjust the intensity of the color match between clips. After making the adjustments, click on Apply Match to give all your clips a similar appearance.

If you want to do more advanced color grading, you can use ColorDirector in Director Suite 365. Check out How to Color Correct and Color Grade: The Ultimate Guide to learn how.

Step 10: Export your video podcast

You made it! Now all you have to do is export your video and audio. Click Produce and sit back while your video podcast becomes a reality.

Step 11: Publish your video podcast

Time to share it with the world. Post your new video podcast to YouTube and any other video sites you can.

Step 12: Promote your podcast.

Make sure you tell everyone you know. What's the point in putting in all the hard work if no one sees it.
