5 Editing Effects to Include in Your Next Video

1. Keyframe Animation

Keyframe animation makes it easy to layer moving elements over any image or video. All it takes is creating custom anchor points to change an object's position over the passage of time. Check out the video above or read through our step-by-step guide on how to use keyframes in PowerDirector to animate objects in your videos.

In PowerDirector, navigate to the "Motion Title" menu and follow these five simple steps to create professional-quality keyframe animation:

Step 1: Select your photos and videos.

Add videos or photos to the first and second track in the timeline. Make sure to add your background to the top track.

Step 2: Place your first keyframe.

Place the image or video you would like to animate in the position you would like to start in frame 1. Scroll right on the main menu at the bottom of your screen to find "Transform Keyframe." Select the diamond-shaped keyframe tool to mark the start point of your animation.

Step 3: Place your last keyframe.

Now move to the point in your timeline where you want your animation to stop. Change the position and size of your object to where you want it to end. A keyframe will automatically be added.

You’ve now made a keyframe animation. Add more keyframes throughout your clip if you want to create non-linear movement or different speeds.

2. Video Stabilization

Whether you're taking vacation videos on your phone or following the action of your friend while skateboarding across town, some of the most exciting video footage may have a few shaky moments.

Rather than living with destabilized footage or deleting your video entirely, you can quickly stabilize your clips in three simple steps:

Step 1: Add your shaky footage to PowerDirector’s timeline.

Step 2: Navigate to the “Stabilizer” menu.

Step 3: Set the level of Stabilization you would like to apply.

That’s it! The app takes care of everything else. You now have stabilized footage that will be much more enjoyable to watch.

3. Video Glitch

The dynamic video glitch effect has become a favorite of social media creators and followers alike. This dramatic effect creates an instant cyberpunk feel.

In PowerDirector you can find a collection of glitch effects you can add to your videos in “Effects.” Just swipe to the right in the “Edit” menu to find it. When you choose your favorite glitch and apply it you can use the sliding scale to adjust it’s frequency and intensity.

4. Combine Videos with Transition Effects

PowerDirector makes combining videos and adding transitions effortless. Simply create a new project, then follow the steps below to customize your creation and share it with the world.

Step 1

Add your footage to PowerDirector's editing timeline. Add as many clips as you like. Click and drag to rearrange the videos.

Step 2

5. Speed Effects

Speed can have a powerful impact on video footage. Whether you want to get your viewers' hearts racing through fast motion or highlight a pivotal moment with customizable slow motion, PowerDirector streamlines the speed effects tool for dynamic content in minutes.
